This note was just posted on Facebook by Jon Gray of Annapolis Royal. Obviously closing the emergency room in Annapolis Royal could have a major impact on the health care of people in the Digby area as well.
Andy
Health care is threatened in Annapolis Royal. The regional health authority is considering closing the emergency room services at the Annapolis Community Health Centre. This means there could be no reliable emergency room service between Middleton and Yarmouth.
The issue is so important that the NDP campaigned on a promise not to close rural emergency rooms. In fact, keeping emergency rooms open ranks as number two in Darrell Dexter’s “Plan For Today’s Families.”
The provincial department of health and the regional health authority need to know how much we value our local health centre.
The fallout from reduced access to emergency room services will severely impact the health of our citizens and the well being of our community.
It’s time to write to our Minister of Health and the ceo of Annapolis Valley Health.
Pass this message on to anyone you know who might be affected by this.
There is also a meeting at the Clementsport Legion on February 16th beginning at 3pm, should the meeting at the fire hall on the same day be too late or too far away for folks.
Let’s turnout in droves and let them know what we think! Now is NOT the time to sit back on our laurels and hope for the best!

A Feb 6 Chronicle Herald article says ‘no closure of the Annapolis ER. But still there is a series of meetings – which indicates that change is in the air. The fate of Digby Hospital is still uncertain, since that facility was included in the original rumor.
I may be citing the obvious, bu since this may impact both District health Authorities representation from the Islands is important.
See you there. I’ll be attending on Feb 11.
